How was our collection made?
Northern Argentina is a region known for its rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions. The artisans in this region have honed their craft over generations, preserving ancient techniques and passing them down to younger generations. These artisans play a crucial role in keeping the cultural identity of their communities alive, while also providing sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.
We work together with a group of artisans who joined in 1995 to change their realities.
The group was created with indigenous farmers who lived on the land. They started to organize and put every resource and skill into a common purpose. Some of them are farmers who own llamas and have learned to take care of the animals from past generations.
From these llamas, they obtained the fibres which they used to weave. This way of locally sourced fibres prioritizes ethical and eco-friendly practices, ensuring that the materials used in our garments are not only of the highest quality but also have a minimal impact on the environment. This process will generate a positive economic impact on many families, from the farmers to the weavers, and all the people working in this process.
The traditional crafting techniques used in the collection
The winter collection showcases a range of traditional crafting techniques that have been perfected over the years. The whole process will start with washing the wool and hand spinning the wool. The artisans carefully spin the natural fibres into yarns of quality wool. This labor-intensive process ensures that each strand of yarn is imbued with the artisan's skill and attention to detail.
The next step is hand-dying the wool. Most of our garments are made with non-dyed wool in this collection, which means that we embrace the natural colour of the llamas. But some of our knits have some colours created with natural extracts, such as vegetables, herbs, and roots.
Then, our collection featured hand-loomed and hand-knitted processes. This is achieved with meticulous methods that require patience, precision, and knowledge, as a result, our garments are not only visually stunning but also incredibly durable.
The designs in this collection are deeply influenced by the cultural and historical heritage of the north of Argentina. Each pattern and motif tells a story, reflecting the traditions and beliefs of the artisans' communities.
The impact of supporting skilled artisans and communities.
By purchasing our winter collection, you are not only acquiring a beautiful garment but also making a positive impact on the lives of skilled artisans and their local communities. We believe in fair trade practices and ensure that the artisans receive fair wages for their exceptional craftsmanship. This empowers them to continue their traditions and provide sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.
Our collaboration with these artisans helps preserve traditional crafting, techniques that are at risk of being lost in an increasingly industrialized world. By supporting artisans, we are contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage and promoting the importance of traditional craftsmanship in today's globalized society.
Our winter collection is more than just a collection of garments; it is a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and authenticity. Each piece is a labor of love and dedication, meticulously crafted by skilled artisans.
By embracing our winter collection, you are not only acquiring a beautiful garment but also supporting the preservation of cultural traditions and the empowerment of skilled artisans. And I thank you for that.
