Rooted in Nature, Woven by Hand

At Casapacha, we believe that the finest crafts begin with the finest materials—and the finest materials come from the earth. Our collections are built on two extraordinary natural fibres, each with its own story of heritage, sustainability, and artisanal mastery.

process of Chaguar fibre

The Harvest

Chaguar plant is not cultivated. It grows wild in the semi-shade of the Chaco forest. Wichi women venture into the forest in small groups, carefully harvesting the plant by hand, a time-honoured practice that honours both the land and the craft.

the transformation

After the harvesting period, the women prepare the leaves and clean them. The fibre is then left to dry in the sun for a day or two until it becomes white. Once dry, the fibres are worked into threads by rubbing them together on their thighs.

dying and weaving process

These threads are later dyed with natural pigments obtained from bark, fruits, seeds and leaves.

Using ancient symbols and patterns, Wichi women combine forms and tones into a diversity of designs.

process of wool fibre

the raw wool

The journey starts with the threads themselves—raw wool is carefully washed, sun-dried, and hand-spun with precision. Each artisan skillfully determines the ideal thickness, guided by the vision of the garment to come.

natural hand dying

Some of our products will require the wool to be dyed. This step is done using vegetable dyes such as cabbage, herbs, yerba mate, etc.

They will use different dye baths, soaking the threads for varying amounts of time. This allows them to achieve different depths of colour. After this process, the wool threads are dried in the sun once again.

weaving process

After the wool is dry, it's ready to be used. The weaving process will start, using a loom or needle knit.
